  26. If you have installed the Masterpiece or Ultimate Clipart from 
  27. floppy disk and only installed PowerAlbum, you may have a problem 
  28. displaying or printing all of the images from any of the 
  29. SoftKey Clipart for Windows titles on CD.

  31. To correct this problem run the setup on the CD.

  37. Using Clipart and PowerAlbum 1.05 albums with earlier versions 
  38. of Calendar Creator Plus

  42. Installation problems
  43. ---------------------

  45. If you install a version of Calendar Creator Plus earlier than 
  46. 2.0 after installing Clipart, you may encounter a problem with 
  47. the Clipart Album. 
  48.  
  49. To correct the problem, reinstall Clipart and PowerAlbum 1.05 after
  50. installing Calendar Creator Plus. In the Setup dialog box, check 
  51. the PowerAlbum field to make sure the PowerAlbum program files are 
  52. going in the same directory as Calendar Creator Plus. If 
  53. necessary, type the name of the Calendar Creator Plus directory in 
  54. the field.

  57. PowerAlbum 1.05 and Calendar Creator Plus for Windows 1.0 and 1.01 
  58. ------------------------------------------------------------------
  59.  
  60. PowerAlbum version 1.05 album files are not fully compatible 
  61. with earlier versions of PowerAlbum.  If you are using Calendar 
  62. Creator Plus 1.0 or 1.01, or PowerAlbum 1.0, and you receive an 
  63. error message such as "#540 POWERALB.ALB is not a valid album  
  64. file," then the version of Calendar Creator Plus probably needs 
  65. to be updated to version 2.0.
  66.  
  67. If you are in an environment (such as a  network) where you 
  68. might be sharing album files with Calendar Creator Plus for 
  69. Windows users, it is important that they update to version 2.0 
  70. of Calendar Creator Plus.
  71.  
  72. Please call 800 227-5609, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 
  73. 6:00 p.m. EST, to order an updated version of Calendar Creator 
  74. Plus for Windows.

  76. An interim solution is to reinstall PowerAlbum 1.05 after 
  77. installing Calendar Creator Plus 1.0 or 1.01. Place the 
  78. PowerAlbum program files in the same directory as Calendar 
  79. Creator Plus.

  83. Insufficient TEMP space message
  84. ===============================

  86. During installation or a Merge operation, you may receive the 
  87. message "Insufficient TEMP space."  If you get this error message, 
  88. it means PowerAlbum ran out of space for its temporary work files.  
  89. We recommend a minimum of 4 Mb available TEMP space for 
  90. PowerAlbum.
  91.  
  92. Power Album uses the DOS environment variable named TEMP to 
  93. determine where to put its temporary work files. To find out what 
  94. drive and directory the TEMP variable specifies, type SET at the 
  95. DOS prompt and look for a statement such as: TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP.  
  96. Make sure that the TEMP variable points to a valid drive and 
  97. directory and that there is at least 4mb of free disk space on the 
  98. drive.

  100. The TEMP variable is specified by the DOS SET command, for 
  101. example, SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP. Typically you will find this 
  102. statement in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  Refer to your DOS or WINDOWS 
  103. manual for more details on setting the TEMP variable.

  107. Saving albums
  108. =============
  109.  
  110. The directory displayed in PowerAlbum's Open Album File, Merge 
  111. Album File, and Save Album File dialog boxes is the "current" 
  112. directory.  The current directory is the one from which you last 
  113. opened or saved a file in any application.
  114.  
  115. If you start another application while running PowerAlbum and 
  116. change to a directory on another drive, the PowerAlbum File menu 
  117. dialog boxes will show that directory as the default.  If you do 
  118. not notice this when saving an album file, you may save the file 
  119. in the wrong directory.

  121. If the dialog boxes show the wrong directory, change the current 
  122. directory again by choosing the correct drive and directory from 
  123. the lists in the dialog box.

  127. Printing
  128. ========

  131. HP LaserJet series III printers
  132. -------------------------------
  133. If you are using an HP LaserJet series III printer (all models: 
  134. IIIP, IIID, IIISI, and so on) and the HP printer driver that came 
  135. with Windows 3.1, you may experience difficulties printing image 
  136. catalogs with several hundred images.  Version 2.1 (or higher) of 
  137. the HP printer driver will correct the problem.  
  138.  
  139. To obtain an updated HP printer driver, contact Microsoft Customer 
  140. Service at 800-426-9400. If you have a modem, you can download 
  141. this driver free of charge from the Microsoft download service at 
  142. 206-936-6735.  The printer driver is also widely available on 
  143. network services such as CompuServe, GEnie, American On Line, or 
  144. APCUG.

  146. If you would like to begin printing catalogs immediately, install 
  147. an HP Series II driver.  To do this, refer to the MS Windows user 
  148. guide or follow these steps (you may need your Windows disks to 
  149. complete this procedure):
  150.  
  151. 1.  Choose the Print Manager Icon (usually found in the Main
  152.     group).
  153. 2.  Choose Printer Setup from the Options menu to open the 
  154.     Printers dialog box.
  155. 3.  Choose the Add button and select the HP LaserJet Series II
  156.     printer from the List of Printers box.
  157. 4.  Choose Install.  If Setup prompts you for disks, insert them 
  158.     as requested.  Then choose OK.
  159.     By default, Windows will connect this printer to LPT1. If 
  160.     this is not your printer port, enter the correct one. 
  161. 5.  Choose Close. 
  162. 6.  Before printing your image catalogs from Power Album, choose
  163.     Printer Setup from the File menu and select the HP II printer 
  164.     you installed during this procedure.

  167. Printing with low disk space
  168. ----------------------------
  169. If you are working with very low disk space, the printing 
  170. process may fail without a warning message.  If this happens, 
  171. try this remedy:
  172.  
  173. 1.  Exit to Windows.
  174. 2.  Open the Control Panel and choose Printers.
  175. 3.  Click the Use Print Manager check box to turn off the 
  176.     Print Manager.
  177. 4.  Close the dialog box and the Control Panel. Return to 
  178.     PowerAlbum and reprint.
